Adventist History: Prominent African-American Leader Passes Away (and other stories)

01 Mar 2023

This week in Adventist history, we revisit the passing of an African-American church leader, Meade Van Putten. Ordained in 1956, he served in the Lake Region and Alleghany East Conferences. He later served at the General Conference and ended his service at the North American Division, totaling more than 40 years.

Elizabeth Henry tells us more about this story and others in This Week in Adventist History. Visit https://encyclopedia.adventist.org/ for more Adventist stories and events.

Established in 1863, the Seventh-day Adventist Church is a global Christian family with over 21 million members who hold the Bible as the ultimate authority. We are believers who help people understand the Bible to find freedom, healing, and hope in Jesus.
