Adventist History: Publication of Te Maramarama

20 Dec 2023

This week in Adventist history, we remember the work of the people in the Eastern Polynesian Mission, with a special focus on the publication of “Te Maramarama” ("The Lightbearer").

On December 17, 1906, "Te Maramarama," translated as "The Lightbearer," was introduced as a magazine printed for the people of the Society Islands in their native language. Continuing its publication until 1964, this magazine played a pivotal role in evangelism, overcoming challenges imposed by French government laws in Tahiti.

Michael Younker delves deeper into this story on This Week in Adventist History. For more Adventist stories and events, be sure to visit https://encyclopedia.adventist.org/.
