Adventist History: Creation of the Geoscience Research Institute

25 Oct 2023

This week in Adventist history, we look into the creation of the Geoscience Research Institute (GRI) on October 25, 1957 through the proposal of then General Conference President R. R. Figuhr.

This proposal aimed at studying the connection between contemporary science and the biblical account of creation. Its mission was to explore the natural world in a manner consistent with the Adventist World Church's fundamental belief on creation.

Michael Younker tells us more about this story on This Week in Adventist History. Visit https://encyclopedia.adventist.org/ for more Adventist stories and events.

Established in 1863, the Seventh-day Adventist Church is a global Christian family with over 21 million members who hold the Bible as the ultimate authority. We are believers who help people understand the Bible to find freedom, healing, and hope in Jesus.
